On the afternoon of October 7th, Quanzhou Medical College held a grand opening ceremony for freshmen of class of 2024 and a publicity activity on the theme of Olympic spirit in Nan 'an Campus of our college.

Relevant leaders of Quanzhou Education Bureau, Nan 'an Municipal Government, Nan 'an Education Bureau, Luodong Town of Nan 'an City, Xiamen Yuanchang Group Co., Ltd.,college leaders and heads of relevant departments, and all freshmen of 2024 participated in the activity. The activity was presided over by Wang Cuiling, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee.

The opening ceremony kicked off with the solemn national anthem. At the ceremony, the leaders in the front row of the rostrum wore college badges for the freshmen representatives to witness all the freshmen opening a brand-new page in their lives, which also meant that they officially became a member of Quanzhou Medical College.

Zheng Guozhi, a nursing student of Class 2024, on behalf ofall the freshmen and Pan Jingyi, a student of Class 2024majoring in Drug Business and Management, on behalf of current students, made speeches to exchange their feelings and experiences about their growth and college life.

Associate Professor Xiao Junhong spoke on behalf of all the teachers in the college. She used the trio of "Sailing, Sailing and Breaking the Waves" to encourage the students to go forward bravely on the road of medicine, experience challenges and tempering, gain knowledge and growth, and finally return home with a full load and become a better self.

Chairman Hou Changcai of Xiamen Yuanchang Group Co., Ltd. delivered a gracious  speech at the ceremony. He first extended his warmest welcome and sincere congratulations to all the freshmen. Later, Chairman Hou deeply shared his mental journey of running a business and devoting himself to charity. He emphasized that Yuanchang Group always upholds the initial intention of giving back to the society, and regards social welfare as its own responsibility, especially in the field of education, which is full of enthusiasm and unremitting efforts. During the construction of Nan 'an Campus of Quanzhou Medical College, Yuanchang Group not only invested a huge amount of money and resources, but also assembled top design teams and construction forces. With extraordinary efficiency and excellent quality, it achieved a magnificent transformation from blueprint conception to reality in just over a year, which profoundly reflected Yuanchang Group's firm commitment and selfless dedication to the development of education as a responsible social enterprise. He promised that in the future, he would continue to pay attention to and support the development of the college and the two sides would make joint efforts to continuously improve the strength and level of running the college, deliver more outstanding medical talents to the medical and health undertakings in Quanzhou and even the whole country, and make greater contributions to the people's health. Finally, Chairman Hou asked the students to be "two-sided" and "four-sided", and encouraged them to cherish their precious campus time, study hard on medical knowledge and constantly hone their professional skills, so as to lay a solid foundation for their future growth.

On behalf of thecollege, Professor Chen Wannan, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and president, expressed heartfelt thanks to Xiamen Yuanchang Group for its generous donation and enthusiastic aid to students, and extended a warm welcome to the arrival of the new class of 2024. She also hoped that the students would have a strong sense of home and country, be quite responsible, always cherish the ambition of serving the country and patriotism, and strive for the development of medical and health undertakings in the motherland and the physical and mental health of mankind for life. We should be diligent in studying and studying, hone our exquisite skills, dare to step out of our comfort zone, learn from books, practice and others, and contribute to the realization of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. We should be brave in innovation, strive for youth, actively cultivate innovative consciousness and ability to try, be good at updating and explore, actively embrace new quality productivity, and lead the future with innovation. We should always be grateful, cultivate the sincerity of great doctors, encourage the initial heart of doctors, always remember that medicine is the transmission of love and the continuation of warmth, be a person with temperature, and be determined to pursue a wonderful life with height, realm and taste.

Zhao Bin of the Affiliated People's Hospitalof Quanzhou Medical College, led all the freshmen to take the oath of medical students, promising reverence for life and medical career, determined to become a builder of new medicine and contribute to the construction of human health community.

Subsequently, the theme of the Olympic spirit was publicized. In warm applause, Li Fabin, the weightlifting champion of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and the2017-Class sports training major graduate of Fujian Normal University, shared the Olympic struggle and successful experience for the students. He always holds the view: be grateful, have a sense of teamwork, and have a firm belief. Ordinary is the cornerstone of miracles and greatness, and belief is the sword that breaks through laziness and difficulties. His unpretentious language is full of his deep feelings for the country and his unremitting pursuit of ideals. The gold medal he won at the Paris Olympic Games is not only the first gold medal in Fujian, but also an indispensable gold medal for the China delegation. The China delegation won 40 gold medals at the Paris Olympic Games, ranking first with the United States in the number of gold medals. This best record in history showed the world the rising power of China sports. The on-site lecture has become a deep learning classroom full of vitality and growth potential.

Jiang Shiying, the second guest, the college teachers’ representative, shared the "growth process of badminton international referees", and told the story about how she grew from an English teacher and badminton enthusiast to an international badminton referee, presiding over the growth process of many important events such as the Asian Games, the National Games, the World Championships and the Tour, encouraging all freshmen to to bravely pursue their dreams and write a glorious chapter of youth.

The two lecturers brought a unique "Great Ideological and Political Course" to all freshmen, which made us understand the connotation of the Olympic spirit more deeply and learned the spiritual strength of fighting bravely.

Youth is in its heyday, and hard work is at the right time. The splendid and competitive campus life has thus set sail. I wish all freshmen can always stick to their initial intention of studying medicine, keep in mind the steadfast oath, and write a medical chapter worthy of youth and the times in Quanzhou Medical College.
