In order to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, carry out the spirit of the National Education Conference, and promote the ideological and political work abilities of our college's counselors, a case study seminar and a heart-to heart talk competition as part of a series of events concerning counselors’ work were held at the Luojiang Campus on November 28, 2024.

Under the meticulous organization of each school and the secondary vocational school department, 22 counselors from 5 schools participated in four school-level final competitions concerning theme class meeting, freshman orientation, case study and heart-to-heart talk. Among them, competitions of the theme class meeting presentation and the freshman orientation were held on July 4, 2024. Thus, the case study seminar and the heart-to-heart talk were the main focus of the competition this time. Contestants gave speeches on topics such as online public opinion handling, academic environment construction, ideological and political education and career planning. After fierce competition, four "Best Counselors" were selected for the events: "Best Counselor" for the theme class meeting presentation - Yan Pingping from the Stomatology School; "Best Counselor" for the freshman orientation - Zhang Lili from the Pharmacy School; "Best Counselor" for the case study - Zhang Yu from the Pharmacy School; and "Best Counselor" for the heart-to-heart talk - Zhuang Qinhai from the Clinical Medicine School.

At the end of the competition, Chen Yiling, the director of the Student Affairs Office,made a summary of these series of events. She fully acknowledged the outstanding performances of the participating counselors and gave suggestions regarding some problems that were found during the competitions.In addition, she hoped that the counselors would continuously improve their professional abilities, actively explore methods to improve the work of student management, and provide new ideas and methods for ideological and political education work, striving to become mentors and friends of students.

A series of eventsconcerning counselors’ work has achieved the goals of training by competition, learning by competition, and practicing by competition. It successfully provides a platform for counselors to showcase themselves and learn from each other, which is conducive to promoting the professionalization of the counselor team of our college. Our college will continue to strengthen the construction of the counselor team to lay a solid foundation for the all-round development of medical students and the long-term development of the college.
