National Health Vocational Education Symposium & Digital Textbook Launch Held at Quanzhou Medical College

From April 1 to 2, 2025, the Academic Symposium of the Medical Laboratory and Health Inspection & Quarantine Technology Sub-Committee of the National Vocational Education Teaching Steering Committee for Health (Health Vocational Education Teaching Steering Committee) and the Launch Meeting for the Digital Textbook Food Physical and Chemical Inspection were held at the Nan'an Campus of Quanzhou Medical College.Participants included Yang Wenxiu, Director of the Teaching Quality Evaluation Special Committee of the Health Vocational Education Steering Committee; Wang Jin, Deputy Secretary-General of the Health Vocational Education Steering Committee; Li Boqun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Quanzhou Medical College; and Hu Ye, Deputy Director of the Teaching Quality Evaluation Special Committee of the Health Vocational Education Steering Committee. The meeting was chaired by Wang Cuiling, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Quanzhou Medical College and Deputy Director of the Medical Laboratory and Health Inspection & Quarantine Technology Sub-Committee.

Opening Ceremony Highlights

In his welcome speech, Secretary Li Boqun expressed gratitude to the Health Vocational Education Steering Committee for its support. As a medical college with a 90-year history, Quanzhou Medical College has always been committed to serving regional health causes. He noted that the meeting not only acknowledges the college's educational achievements but also serves as a key opportunity to promote the digital transformation of vocational education.

Yang Wenxiu, Director of the Teaching Quality Evaluation Special Committee, emphasized that the meeting implements the Implementation Plan for National Vocational Education Reform (Vocational Education 20 Articles) and the "Vocational Education 101 Plan." He highlighted the fundamental role of textbook construction in talent cultivation, advocating for digital textbook development to drive teaching innovation, build a new ecosystem of industry-education integration, and contribute to building an educational power.

Work Discussion & Special Reports

Lou Hongqiang, Director of the Sub-Committee for Medical Laboratory Technology and Health Inspection & Quarantine Technology and Dean of the Medical College of Jinhua Polytechnic University, chaired the 2025 sub-committee work discussion. He proposed deepening collaboration among sub-committees, colleges, and enterprises, promoting curriculum development, standard setting, and professional connotation construction through industry-education integration platforms, and invited committee members to deliberate.

During the special report session, Professor Hu Ye, Deputy Director of the Teaching Quality Evaluation Special Committee, delivered a report titled Innovative Applications of Virtual Simulation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technologies in Laboratory Teaching. He analyzed key challenges in practical training for laboratory majors and proposed implementing digital teaching resources to address these issues. He emphasized curriculum reform through project-based learning, reconstructing task-driven curricula to match job requirements, and exploring AI and virtual simulation applications in visualized cognition, immersive experiences, and contextual interaction to to tackle persistent challenges in traditional teaching such as the disconnect between industry and education , the separation of emotion/affect from context , the inversion of subject (learner) and object (knowledge) roles, and the disconnection between teaching and learning .

Professor Chen Hailing from the School of Health, Quanzhou Medical College, presented Laying a Quality Foundation to Empower Professional Development, reporting on the development of vocational education standards for health inspection and quarantine technology, the connotation and formulation principles of the Food Physical and Chemical Inspection curriculum standard, and its content and objectives.             This promoted the role of curriculum standards in talent cultivation and provided an important basis for compiling the digital textbook.

Digital Textbook Development

Yan Yanli, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Digital Education Publishing Division of Beijing Institute of Technology Press, provided professional guidance on digital textbook construction standards and development specifications in her report Construction and Practice of Vocational Education Digital Textbooks, followed by in-depth discussions on the compilation of Food Physical and Chemical Inspection.

All participants visited the 90th Anniversary Achievements Exhibition of Quanzhou Medical College. The meeting marked a new step in constructing digital teaching resources for health inspection and quarantine technology. Delegates agreed to leverage this opportunity to deepen industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation, promoting high-quality development of health vocational education and cultivating more high-quality technical talents for the "Healthy China 2030" strategy.
