"What comes to mind when you think of national security? Is national security far from us? How do we safeguard it?" These three soul-searching questions sparked profound reflections in the hall on the first floor of the library at Nan'an Campus of Quanzhou Medical College. On April 16, a national security education open class themed "Silent Battle in the Shadows, Youth as the Frontline" was held here. Co-led by Professor Wang Cuiling, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and Lu Qiaomei from the School of Marxism, the class was delivered to 2024-grade students.

Starting with the quote "Be safe but not forget danger; be alive but not forget perish" from The Book of Changes, Teacher Lu Qiaomei combined the important expositions by General Secretary Xi Jinpingon the overall national security concept, explaining the concept of national security in accessible language. By screening the video The National Security You Imagine VS the Actual National Security, she prompted students to reflect and analyzed the diverse challenges to national security, highlighting that those seemingly trivial daily security red lines lie at everyone's fingertips.

Vice Party Secretary Wang Cuiling initiated interaction with students by asking, "When you see December 24 and 25, what's the first thing that comes to mind?" She pointed out, "December 24 marks the anniversary of the Changjin Lake Battle's conclusion," then vividly recounted the heroic stories of the Chinese People's Volunteers who defended national security with their lives and blood 75 years ago. Relying on their iron will, the Volunteers crushed the invaders' hubris of "ending the war before Christmas" in the Changjin Lake Battle, building an iron Great Wall along China's border with their flesh and blood and lighting up the vast land of the motherland with unyielding resolve.

Vice Party Secretary Wang further used the 2022 "toxic textbooks" incident as a case study to illustrate her points. She analyzed the character illustrations in these textbooks from a medical perspective, linking it to the students' field of study and the school's professional characteristics. These illustrations deliberately diluted Chinese history and vilified the national image, subtly shaping the values of young people without their conscious awareness. She employed the metaphor of "boiling a frog in warm water" to vividly depict the dangers of cultural infiltration to the nation's and its people's ideology, thereby highlighting the importance of the "Four-Sphere Confidence" especially cultural confidence.

Finally, Vice Party Secretary Wang shared the promotional video "Secrets Hidden in Photos" and related personal experiences with the students. Using engaging language, she conveyed that national security is all around us, emphasizing that it is closely connected to everyone's daily life. Subsequently, Teacher Lu called on the students to take action to jointly safeguard our national security through the "Eight Don'ts" in daily life.
