On April 23, the Launch Ceremony of the 2025 Nan’an City Nationwide Reading Series and the Special Session of QuanzhouMedical College Nationwide Reading Event were grandly held at the Library of our Nan’an Campus. LiBaiqun , Secretary of the University Party Committee; Wang Cuiling, Deputy Secretary; Guo Danhong, Deputy Minister of the Publicity Department of the Quanzhou Municipal Party Committee; Lin Shaoqing, Standing Committee Member and Minister of the Publicity Department of the Nan’an Municipal Party Committee, and other leaders attended the event, jointly embarking on a new journey of nationwide reading.

The launch ceremony commenced with a captivating performance themed on reading. In his address, Li Baiqun, Secretary of the University Party Committee, stated that the university will further deepen campus reading activities, guiding the broad faculty and student body to develop the good habit of “loving to read, reading good books, and reading well,” illuminating life through learning, nurturing benevolence with the fragrance of books, and together composing the Nan’an chapter of “Nationwide Reading.” Subsequently, Nan’an Xinhua Bookstore donated a collection of quality books to our university, enriching the university’s library resources and providing more spiritual nourishment for faculty and students. Li Chengzhi Public Library and our university library held a co-construction ceremony, with both parties engaging in in-depth cooperation in resource sharing and reading promotion, jointly providing higher-quality services for readers. The “Saturday Tutoring Classroom” project was also officially launched during the ceremony. This project will integrate resources from all parties to provide students with extracurricular tutoring and reading sharing services, supporting students’ all-round development.

At the event, the appointment certificates for “Nan’an City Nationwide Reading Promotion Ambassador” were officially awarded. Professor Su Wenliang, a reading promoter representative, shared his insights on reading, sincerely recounting how reading changed his life and encouraging everyone to develop a reading habit, gaining knowledge and joy through reading.

In his address, Lin Shaoqing, Standing Committee Member and Minister of the Publicity Department of the Nan’an Municipal Party Committee, fully affirmed the significance of this event. She emphasized that nationwide reading is an important measure to enhance the city’s cultural soft power, and hopes to take this event as an opportunity to advance the construction of “Bookish Nan’an,” allowing the fragrance of books to permeate every corner.

Finally, attending leaders left their reading reflections on the Reading Wall, and with the activation of the launch button, the 2025 Nan’an City Nationwide Reading Event was officially set in motion.

After the launch ceremony, attending leaders and guests visited the Nan’an Campus Library and provided guidance on the supporting reading activities. They highly praised the university’s efforts in reading promotion and encouraged the university to continue innovating, providing better reading services for faculty, students, and citizens.

Taking the Medical College as a starting point, this event unites the strength of the university and the local community, making reading a campus trend and injecting new vitality into nationwide reading. Our university will take this opportunity to continuously deepen reading promotion, cultivate a campus culture of “loving to read, reading good books, and reading well,” and contribute to the construction of a bookish society.
