On May 17, 2025, Quanzhou Medical College convened the Second Session of the Fourth Congress of Trade Union Members and the Second Session of the Fourth Congress of Faculty and Staff Representatives. The meeting was held in the Academic Lecture Hall on the eighth floor of the Library and Information Center at the Luojiang Campus. Vice President, Member of the Party Committee, and Chair of the College Trade Union, Chen Xianyi, presided over the meeting.

In the morning session, Chair Chen Xianyi delivered a Trade Union Work Report titled "Uniting for a Shared Dream, Advancing with Resolve—Contributing to the Establishment of an Application-Oriented Undergraduate Medical Institution." The report comprehensively summarized the 2024 achievements of the college’s trade union in safeguarding member rights and interests, improving professional skills, advancing democratic management, enriching campus culture, and supporting faculty and staff in need. It also provided an objective analysis of current challenges, and laid out clear, well-structured plans for the next phase, with effective and targeted measures aligned with both practical trade union work and the needs of its members.

Delegates were divided into five groups to discuss and review the Work Report of the Trade Union and the Trade Union Financial Review Report. Both reports were deliberated and approved during the session.

In the afternoon, Deputy Party Secretary and President Chen Wannian delivered a Presidential Work Report titled "Upholding Integrity and Innovation, Advancing with Unity toward New Achievements." The report offered a thorough review of the college’s progress in 2024 on areas such as educational reform, faculty development, talent cultivation, scientific research, and campus culture. It honestly addressed existing issues and proposed a scientifically grounded development roadmap for the coming period. The report provides important strategic guidance for the continued steady development of the college and its transition toward becoming an application-oriented undergraduate medical institution.

Delegates were organized into six discussion groups to review and deliberate on the Presidential Work Report and four other documents. All reports were discussed and adopted following the deliberations.

In the concluding speech, Party Secretary Li Boqun outlined four key directives for future work:

Uphold the Party’s leadership and cultivate virtue through education, ensuring Party building serves as the guiding compass for school governance;

Stay goal-oriented and overcome difficulties, using the successful upgrade to an undergraduate institution to usher in a new chapter of accelerated development;

Pursue reform and innovation with precision, activating new momentum for high-quality development through systematic thinking;

Fulfill duties with diligence and strive for excellence, building a community of comprehensive development through practical efforts and strong commitment.

The meeting called on all faculty, medical, and administrative staff to unite more closely around the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, to seize the momentum, rise to the challenge, and advance with the spirit of reform, the drive of practical action, and the courage of innovation. Together, they shall strive to achieve a comprehensive victory in deepening reforms and jointly compose a new chapter in the high-quality development of the college.
